RALEIGH, NC
Restaurant and plaza renovation of the first floor of the Wells Fargo Building in Downtown Raleigh for Birdies Barroom and Kitchen. The restaurant, comprised 5,500 SF of shell space, was converted into a full-service establishment with a full bar. MEP improvements included a mechanical mezzanine to support a full kitchen. Electrical improvements include a new main service panel and ancillary panel along with re-work of several existing panels to serve the space. Plumbing included a larger capacity grease trap. This space is located directly above the high-rise buildings main electrical service room, so caution was required for all activities and design considerations for kitchen washdown had to be taken. Architectural renovations included high end finishes with Italian style decorative tiles, elaborate full bar millwork design with custom laser cut panels and matching barn style doors, with custom lighting throughout. The plaza renovations consisted of reworking existing planters with new waterproofing and plantings, installation of the same style custom laser cut panels as privacy screening details, a perimeter fence, and installation of IPE decking and a Turf-X feature in the open space. The focal point of the patio area is a Shade-FX custom motorized canopy system with a steel support skeleton, featuring integrated heaters and lighting for outdoor dining.
