Celebrating Success: The New Alcami cGMP Pharma Storage Facility in Garner, NC
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion and start-up of Alcami’s new cGMP Warehouse in Garner, North Carolina, achieved in the first half of 2024. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet a wide range of storage conditions, from cryogenic storage at temperatures below -135°C to ambient racking storage ranging from 15-30°C, with multiple temperature options in between (-75°C, -40°C, -20°C, 5°C).
One of the standout features of this facility is its advanced capabilities, which include stability chambers and an aliquot booth, ensuring that Alcami can maintain the highest standards of quality and compliance for its pharmaceutical products.
A key highlight of this project was the focus on business continuity. The warehouse incorporates redundant mechanical systems and backup generators, as well as a robust Liquid Nitrogen tertiary backup system, supported by a 13,000-gallon Liquid Nitrogen tank. This infrastructure is critical in ensuring that operations run smoothly and without interruption.
The successful execution of this construction project was made possible through a strong partnership between McDonald York, the construction management firm, and IPS, the A&E firm, along with key vendors such as Environmental Specialties and Alcami Corporation. Our core team included Project Manager Joe Rosales, Field Superintendent Jim Patton from McDonald York, and Nick Lash managing the A&E design team. Chris Murphy represented our key coldroom equipment vendor, Environmental Specialties, while Bob Nevruz and David Vogt from Alcami provided essential leadership throughout the design and construction phases.
We are proud to report that the project was completed on-budget and on-schedule. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and collaboration of everyone involved.
At McDonald York, we are committed to delivering excellence in every project we undertake, and we are excited to see how Alcami’s new cGMP Warehouse will enhance their capabilities in the pharmaceutical industry.
