Heather Denny is President and Chief Executive Officer of McDonald York Building Company. Heather joined McDonald York after graduating from North Carolina State University in December 1995 and has built her 21-year career at McDonald York. She became only the 5th President in the 100-year history of the company in 2010 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2013. As President and Chief Executive Officer, she leads the overall operations of the company with a focus on exceeding client expectations, preconstruction phase services and championing the firm's safety program - MYSafety(r).
She is the driving force behind MYWay(r), a McDonald York client-focused philosophy and tailored delivery process. She has had strong success in growing key relationships for the company and leading the business into the life sciences and corporate markets that has significantly improved company results. It is that relationship building that she now uses to focus on strengthening McDonald York's geographic presence.
One of Heather's key focuses has been serving the community and helping others. She is actively involved in many local and state professional organizations and nonprofit organizations. She has served in leadership roles in the majority of these groups. Heather chooses organizations that are both professionally and personally meaningful to her along with organizations that allow her to make a significant impact within the community. Currently her activity includes board positions for the NC State Civil Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) departments advisory board, the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), John Rex Endowment, Union Bank advisory board and the City Club of Raleigh. She is the chair for the Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Heather has received numerous awards including Top 50 Business Leaders to Watch by the Triangle Business Journal, Engineering News Record 20 Under 40, Triangle Business Journal's 40 Under 40, CREW Network 20 Under 40, Triangle Business Journal's Women in Business and Business Leader Magazine's Women Extraordinaire.
Heather graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering - Construction Option.
